When starting a Fashion Brand, finding the perfect manufacturer for your product is such a difficult process - it often involves sending out lots of enquiry emails (many of which do not get a response), and the emails that do get a response consist of lots of confusing terms and jargon.
It is always best to approach your manufacturer with a complete design package, consisting of:
Accurate CAD drawings of each design - Front, back and internals wherever necessary.
Tech Packs of each style
Size Charts of each style in your chosen sample size.
Not only does this show professionalism but it also shows that you are serious about building a brand and hopefully forming a long lasting relationship with your manufacturer.

So what is a Tech Pack?!
A Tech Pack acts as an instruction manual for your factory. It clearly displays all key details and information such as:
CAD’s - Each Tech Pack includes accurate CAD’s of the front and back of each style, the seams and stitch details are clearly visible, as are the trims and key design features.
Fabrics - Each fabric used in the style is listed, fabric composition and colour should be stated if you know this at this point.
Trims - Each trim is listed, providing details of how many of each trim should be used, where in the garment they are positioned and how they are attached.
Key Design Details - every single detail about your garment will be included in your Tech Pack, for example, does the style have pockets? If so are they functional? Do they have a pocket flap? Are they straight or angled? What fabric are the pocket bags and liner in?
Close Up Details - If you have any particular points of interest, for example, a hidden internal drawcord, then images or close up CAD’s will be provided to give your manufacturer a clear illustration of what you envision.
Inspiration images - Wherever possible it is great to include inspiration images - this allows your manufacturer to get a clearer view of how you intended your final garment to look.
Size Chart - The size chart provides all measurements required to make your garment, for example, length, shoulder seam length, front neckline drop, bust measurements etc. Providing a size chart with your Tech Pack not only gives your manufacturer a clear idea of how you want the garment to fit but also allows you to get a more accurate cost per garment as they will be able to advise estimated fabric usage.
Often brands think they can work with a manufacturer without a tech pack - Tech Packs are an additional cost to a brand but a wise investment and will prevent over sampling at the Pre Production stage.
The information provided in a Tech Pack is so thorough and in depth that it really does help a factory get your production to a beautiful standard a lot quicker than without one.
